The app makes no sound
Updated 24 July 2026
Check the output device and volume in Settings → Audio inside the app, then your system volume and mute switch.
Chart playback and drum monitoring come from your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Your drum module's own headphone output only plays the module's internal sounds — plugging headphones in there will never let you hear the app.
The fix, step by step
- Open Settings → Audio in iQuantize and confirm the output device and volume.
- Check your device's system volume, and the mute switch on an iPad or iPhone.
- If you have headphones in the drum module, move them to the device — or accept that the module's jack plays only the module.
- On an iPad with one port in use by the module, use a powered hub so you can connect wired headphones at the same time.
Practice with feedback that tells you what to fix
iQuantize scores every take against the chart, names what slipped, and picks the next groove for your level.
Requires an electronic drum kit or a MIDI-capable drum module.
Common questions
I hear the module but not the chart.
You are monitoring through the module's headphone output. That is fine — many players prefer it because it is instant — but the app's chart and click come out of your device, so you need to hear both.
Can I turn off the app's drum sounds and use only my module?
Yes. Monitor your own playing through the module and let the app play the chart. Scoring reads the MIDI, so it is unaffected by which sound source you listen to.
