Step by step

  1. Accept the terms

    1. 1Tick Agree to the EULA and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.
    2. 2Tap Continue.
The first iQuantize screen with the agreement box ticked and the Continue button highlighted.
    The agreement box and Continue.
  2. Choose your level

    1. 1Select the option that best describes your experience, for example Just getting started.
    2. 2Tap Start Onboarding.

Your answer sets the starting point for your practice plan.

The question “How long have you been playing?” with “Just getting started” selected and Start Onboarding highlighted.
    Your level and Start Onboarding.
  3. App step 1 of 3 · Audio Output

    Check the sound

Put on wired headphones, then tap Play 10 clicks. The bars light up with each click.

    Use wired headphones

Bluetooth headphones are not suitable for practice because they add latency between your hit and the sound.

Step 1 of 3, Audio Output, with the Play 10 clicks button highlighted.
    Play 10 clicks.
  4. App step 1 of 3 · Audio Output

Confirm that you heard the clicks

When the app asks Did you hear the click?, tap Yes, I heard it, then Next.

If you did not hear them, tap No, I didn’t hear it and choose another device under Audio Output.

The question “Did you hear the click?” with “Yes, I heard it” highlighted.
    Yes, I heard it.
  5. App step 2 of 3 · MIDI Input

    Hit every pad

Play each part of your kit: kick, snare, toms, ride, crash, and hi-hat both open and closed. Each one turns green when iQuantize detects it.

Step 2 of 3, MIDI Input, with the grid of nine pads highlighted.
    The pad test.
  6. App step 2 of 3 · MIDI Input

    Go to the next step

When you see All pads checked, tap Next.

All nine pads checked, with “All pads checked” underlined and the Next button highlighted.
    All pads checked. Tap Next.
  7. App step 3 of 3 · Calibration

    Calibrate your kit

Tap Start Calibration, then hit any pad with one stick on each click (Tom 1 is recommended) until all bars turn green.

Calibration measures your kit’s delay so your timing scores stay fair.

    Play with the sound

Listen to the click and hit with it. Use one stick: hits with two sticks are less even, and the calibration may not pass.

Calibrate again if you switch audio outputs

Each audio output needs its own calibration.

Step 3 of 3, Calibration, with the Start Calibration button highlighted.
    Start Calibration.
  8. App step 3 of 3 · Calibration

    Finish the setup

When you see Timing calibrated, tap Finish.

Calibration complete, with “Timing calibrated” underlined and the Finish button highlighted.
    Timing calibrated. Tap Finish.
Done

The setup is complete. iQuantize now suggests a few short grooves to get you started.

Requires an electronic drum kit or MIDI drum module.
